DESCRIPTION:Echoics\nRyan Vahey (b.1982) est un artiste qui vit et travaille à Brooklyn\, NY. Il emploie une variété de médias tels que le son\, la sculpture\, la photographie et la peinture pour créer des installations multi sensorielles qui se concentrent sur la mutabilité de la mémoire et les façons dont les souvenirs individuels peuvent déclencher une réponse universelle. L’intériorité de cet espace transcende les souvenirs subjectifs de Vahey et conduit les téléspectateurs à s’engager dans leur propre exploration de ces paysages fantastiques surréalistes. Des éléments représentatifs subtils et clairs suggèrent des récits informels\, qui permettent l’expérience simultanée des choses vaguement familières et étrange. \nDans cette installation de travaux plus petits\, Vahey donne au spectateur un aperçu momentané des grands univers sont souvent représentés dans ses installations. “Echoics” a été formé à partir de morceaux de différentes sculptures et de médias mixtes explorant les ouvertures d’où nous voyons souvent le monde. Grâce à l’utilisation de lentilles\, d’écrans et de références à des formats de\nvisionnement communs\, Vahey explore la relation de ses travaux avec des perspectives changeantes et les voies qui enchaînent les idées. \nIn English\nRyan Vahey (b.1982) is an artist living and working in Brooklyn\, NY.  He employs a variety of media such as sound\, sculpture\, photography and painting to create multisensory installations that concentrate on the mutability of memory and the ways that individual recollections can trigger a universal response. The interiority of this space transcends Vahey’s own subjective recollections and leads viewers to engage in their own exploration of these surreal fantasy landscapes. Subtle and sparse representational elements hint at loose narratives\, allowing the simultaneous experience of the vaguely familiar and the decidedly strange. \nIn this installation of smaller work\, Vahey gives the viewer a momentary glimpse into the larger worlds that are often created in his installations. “Echoics” was formed from parts of many different sculptures and mixed media processes and investigates the apertures in which we often view the world. Through the use of lenses\, screens\, and references to common viewing formats\, Vahey explores the works relationship to shifting perspectives and the ways in which one idea informs the following idea\, as well as how the works function as part of an ongoing exploration in changing perspectives. \n
